Andrew Weatherall – BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix 2013-12-31 [Classic] Heidi’s choice

This one was aired first time 1993-11-13.
“Radio 1’s Essential Mix @ 20
“I heard this mix back when it first came out and it really blew my mind. It starts slow and moody and makes all these weird transitions into killer techno and electro records that I’d never heard anyone in England play before. I know it was definitely made on two turntables old school style, and you can hear all the crackles which really appeals to me. I’ve seen Andrew Weatherall DJ probably fifty times and he’s never let me down. He’s one of my heroes and a musical legend!”. Heidi.”

6 Mix 2012-04-20 Andrew Weatherall and Terry Farley

“As 6 Music Celebrates: Dance Culture, Andrew Weatherall chats to Terry Farley.
The duo started the now notorious Boy’s Own fanzine in 1986, which commented on the slang, the parties, the tunes and the humour of the acid house days, and which also lead to the creation of the label Junior Boys Own. This imprint specialised in dance music and put out records by Orbital and Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers, which celebrates 15 years this year.
Terry began making productions with Andy Weatherall, Hugo Nicholson and Pete Heller under the name Bocca Juniors. He later teamed up with Pete Heller and has gone on to re-mix many of the world’s leading artists and singers: everyone from U2 to New Order; to the Happy Mondays and Primal Scream at the height of Balearica. He has also produced Kylie Minogue, The Farm and M People.
In this special show, Andrew Weatherall has a dig though Terry Farley’s record collection and the pair chat about the music that has made an impact on their careers.”

The First Time With… 2011-12-31 Andrew Weatherall (6 Music)

“DJ Andrew Weatherall talks Matt Everitt through the musical milestones of his life.
While some DJs emerged out of the early house movement to settle into a comfortable and predictably lucrative careers as superclub-orientated superstar DJs, Andrew Weatherall has always followed his own musical compass.
Andrew discusses his career from the first track he ever DJ’d (the WWII War film theme 633 Squadron) onto his residency at the UK’s earliest acid house club Shoom. He also talks about producing Primal Scream’s genre-breaking Screamadelica and his later work delving into the darker side of vintage rock ‘n’ roll and techno.
This interview features the humour, style and impeccable musical choices that one would expect from one of contemporary music’s most innovative and original figures in music. It first broadcast in March 2011.”
