“Nemone is joined by Canadian DJ (and Environmental Toxicology expert) Jayda G. There aren’t many electronic artists out there trying to bridge the gap between clubbing and the environment, but we’re glad that Jayda G is trying. Following her residency at Brixton’s Phonox last month, she now prepares to release her debut album ‘Significant Changes’ on 22nd March on the almighty Ninja Tune label. She’s going to be huge in 2019 and we’re very fortunate tonight to have her pick some of her favourite tracks.
Plus Jeremy Malvin AKA Chrome Sparks provides this week’s themed mix. Well, theme is loose term as he struggled to come up with a theme, there are some all-time favourite tunes in here, some words of wisdom, and he jumps all over the musical globe. So we’ve taken it upon ourselves to christen it the “All Over” Mix. We caught him just before he releases the Be On Fire EP on Counter Records (a Ninja Tune imprint). Following his excellent self-titled debut album released last year, the Brooklyn based DJ and producer is much in demand, a true talent, and we’re overwhelmed to bring you this truly special piece of work.”

“Nemone celebrates the sound of Berlin, in part 2 our trilogy. Musically one of the most essential cities in Europe, especially in the Dance world, we’ll be exploring the city through a series of producers, labels, clubs, and mixes. This week, we’re spending some time with Jam Rostom AKA Planningtorock. Following the release of 4th album ‘Powerhouse’, the Bolton born artist now residing in Berlin will be taking us through her city, her new projects, and will be sharing a guest mix. The new album jumps from being elated and free, to incredibly personal and in places really dark. But there’s an honesty to it all that you rarely see in electronic music. The soul attached to this record runs incredibly deep.
As well as Planningtorock we’ll also be speaking to, and getting mixes from, Anja Schneider, Modeselektor, and Jennifer Cardini, along with the sounds of the likes of Afterlife, Watergate, and BPitch labels. Taking a look at what’s gone before in the city, as well as finding out where the city goes to next.”

“Nemone welcomes Unkle and Mo Wax founder James Lavelle. An absolute tour de force in the Dance field (the scene, rather than an actual field) is in conversation with Nemone ahead of the release of Unkle’s 6th album ‘The Road: Part 2’. Sure to be filled with collaborations, there can’t be many artists left that James hasn’t worked with. He says of this new record that it’ll be “more of a mixtape aesthetic being the ultimate road trip”. And that’s handy as he’ll also be sharing with us a career spanning mix. Plus he’s bringing along some UNKLE exclusives and unreleased tracks and remixes.
His label ‘Mo’Wax’ – which he set up with Tim Goldsworthy – first signed DJ Shadow. They also released the likes of Money Mark, Luke Vibert, Rob Dougan (Clubbed to Death), Blackalicious, and of course UNKLE. And the fact that debut album Psyence Fiction is 21 years old might come up as well. Much to discuss.”

“Ed Banger Records boss Busy P and friends take over the controls of Ladyland. It’s an understatement to say this is one of the most important Dance labels of the last 25 years. Home to Justice, DJ Mehdi, Cassius, Breakbot, Sebastian, Mr Oizo, Uffie, Riton, Laurent Garnier to name but a few, their sound defined the post-Daft Punk landscape with a mixture of fizzing, crunching synths, incredible production, and a knowing swagger and confidence not seen since the days of…well, Muscle Shoals? Ahead of their live date in London, we catch up with the boss, who’ll also be bringing in some friends for good measure.
And head of our Berlin season next month, we’ve invited the City’s favourite sons Modeselektor to be our resident DJs for the night. They’re picking a few of their favourite tunes ahead of the release of their fourth album Who Else on their own – and very excellent – Monkeytown Records. This is the first new material from the duo since 2011’s Monkeytown. We’ve already heard the incredible ‘Wealth’ with Flohio, plus their latest tracks I Am Your God and Bronko and it’s shaping up to be a typically noisy affair. On Twitter they said: After 2 years of endless nonsense talk and procrastination, followed by 6 months of panicking, we finally recorded our 4th album within only 4 weeks.””

“Nemone celebrates 20 years of Defected Records with its boss Simone Dunmore. If it’s House music, you can dance to it, and it was popular in the last two decades then it was probably released on Defected Records. Their contribution to the Dance scene over the decades is impossible to narrow down into a few sentences, but there’s rarely a tune you won’t know from these guys. Simon set the label up after finding Soulsearcher and their instrumental track Can’t Get Enough. They added a vocal, and a label was born. But not only a label, they also are a live events organisation, an online store, and run so many sub-labels they’ve pretty much got the House market covered. No recessions here, but much to talk to Simon about and share some of his favourite tunes over the years, and find out what’s next for the label.
Plus James Blake is back with his fourth album Assume Form, released just a few hours ago. Featuring the likes of Travis Scott, Moses Sumney, Metro Boomin, Rosalía, and Andre 3000 we’re predicting another big year for one of music’s most important songwriters. We decided to unearth a mix from 2011 which featured everything from classical and music light of touch, to the downright heaviest beats and dirtiest production. An exquisite listen and a treat for the ears.”

“Nemone returns with the usual eclectic mix of new and old skool dance, electronica, beats, breaks, funk and hip-hop. This week we’re joined by Marissa Cetin, news editor from Resident Advisor who’ll be guiding us through the artists and DJs to look out for in 2019. Nemone also looks back at Fever Ray’s seminal and spooky self-titled album, which was born 10 years ago tomorrow. This album saw The Knife’s Karin Dreijer going solo and cranking up the oddities, from singing about the idiosyncrasies of motherhood to dishwasher tablets. This album was the nail in the coffin for the stale “chillout” genre and ushered in a new wave of warmth and darkness that made Sweden and the Scandis the centre of exciting new music. Plus we’ll also playout some of The Knife’s 6 Mix from 2006.”

“Matthew Dear is back in Ladyland and acting as Resident DJ this week! He releases his first album in six years and the new single “Bunny’s Dream” is a firm favourite of Nemone’s.
Matthew moved from Texas to Michigan as a teenager, where he was inspired by the sound of Detroit Techno. He met Sam Valenti IV at a party while attending the University of Michigan, and the two started the record label, Ghostly International, based on a shared love of electronic music. Dear’s first single was 1999’s “Hands Up For Detroit” (co-produced by ghettotech pioneer Disco D, who performed under the name Daisha). His first album Leave Luck to Heaven appeared in 2003 and was praised widely as a seminal fusion of pop and minimal techno. The album’s single “Dog Days” became one of Spectral’s best sellers and a favourite of international DJs like Richie Hawtin. Matthew has also worked under the harder-edged alias Audion, as well as monikers False and Jabberjaw.
Nemone hand-picks a brilliant selection of tracks reflecting the bleeps, beeps, and breaks of dance music over five decades.”
