“Jamz Supernova on 6 gets your weekend party started with an uplifting array of alternative RnB, hip-hop, broken beat, global club sounds and leftfield electronica, supporting new music from the UK and further afield. She goes Back to my Roots with London based singer-songwriter, illustrator and sculptor Alewya. Born in Saudi Arabia to an Egyptian and Ethiopian parents, she then moved to Sudan before settling in London as a refugee. Her music is influenced by the sounds she grew up with, mixed with the ambient alternative rock music she heard through her brother’s bedroom wall. She’s collaborated with the likes of Shy FX, Moses Boyd, and Little Simz on their 2020 track ‘where’s my lighter’ and supported her on her UK tour last year. Her debut 6-track EP ‘Panther In Mode’ was released last year and we had to get her on the show to take her back to the sounds of where her career began. Following this, Jamz jumps on the decks to share the Weekend Warm Up Mix which this week celebrates old skool and nu skool Jungle.
