“This week Coldcut journey through another fine selection of quality tunes drifting through Rhythm & Sound, Sufjan Stevens and the haunting sounds of Burial. We switch it up with music from Whistla, Steve Starks and Kidnap Kid, before launching into the classic ‘Sweet Harmony’ from Liquid. There’s also a track from the recent Kate Bush album, the unique sounds of Japan and the excellent Maya Jane Coles to close Hour 1.
We welcome Machinedrum for the second hour, an artist that has featured many times on Solid Steel in his various guises. It’s a full on Juke work out, kicking off with DJ Roc, Rashad Spinn Boylan, DJ Earl and Juke legend DJ Clent, ripping up Funkadelic to great effect. There’s plenty of exclusives along the way and remixes from Daedelus, Lenkemx and Machinedrum himself, before ending on the soulful sounds of Willie Hutch.
DK drops in with the calm after the storm featuring music from Lapalux, Broke One & Xavier Leon and the Shabazz Palaces remix for Battles, plus classics from Penny Goodwin, Joe Gibbs and Grace Jones.”
