Gilles Peterson Worldwide 2013-11-02 With Cape Town’s John Wizards [cut version]

Here is a version of last weeks Worldwide show where news and ads are cut from the recording. If there is interest I will continue providing the cut version when available.
“This week Gilles is joined in the studio by John Wizards, a group hailing from Cape Town, South Africa. The six piece band combine electronic sounds with more traditional African influences, and the success of their self-titled debut album has led to their touring extensively across Europe alongside Mount Kimbie and Jagwar Ma. Plus, there’s new music from Robert Glasper, Falty DL, Soleance and Christian Rich, and a Do Over featuring Ronnie Laws and MF Doom on the show!”

  1. Props for the effort you put in it. I agree that the news are very unnecessary for this station—three headlines and 1-2 sentences explaining each, that’s not really informative and about as good as no news at all. Still, I personally don’t mind those 2 mintes per hour at all. Actually, I use them as a reminder of how long I’ve been listening to these shows again 🙂 “News again already? Wow, another hour dallied away!”

  2. Please continue with the ‘cut’ version Thomas! And thanks so much for all your efforts in posting new music. Greatly appreciated.

  3. Woah, not necessary? This is very necessary. I’ve been trying to work out why i went from listening to worldwide religiously several times a week when 2-4 wed r1, to now barely listening to the whole thing once a week, if that! This episode is a perfect example, such a great introduction to the show with 30 mins of amazing new music, then mood killing programme ads and “news” totally wreck it… music news? no? if it was relevant news to a station called 6 MUSIC i might understand, but it’s tabloid junk which isn’t necessary in the show and very unjustified. It kills the whole vibe and bliss of an incredible DJ finding the perfect beat. Thank you SO much for doing this, i cant wait to listen to it right now 🙂
