Kutski 2010-07-02 Early Hardstyle Freerange Mix

“I’m sure quite a lot of your may have heard I played a massive festival out in Holland last weekend called DEFQON 1! I was playing earlier on the main stage, so I thought rather than just belting it out, I’d try and set the mood by digging out some early hardstyle classic!! And this gave me a brilliant idea for a freerange mix as everyone is loving the hardstyle vibe at the moment, but it only really got big in the UK towards the end of last decade, but the music was originally being pioneered out in Europe at the start of the decade. So this week, we’re going in deep for a bit of a history lession in this weeks early hardstyle freerange mix!!”

6 Mix 2011-07-02 Orbital at Glastonbury: 1994-2010

“Dance duo Orbital – AKA brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll – present a special Glastonbury edition of the 6 Mix. The duo, who first played the festival in 1994 became known for a string of iconic performances on Pilton Farm, and have played on the Pyramid, Other and Jazz World stages over a fifteen year period. In this special show, the band share their Glastonbury memories of the last 15 years, from their first ever appearance to what was billed as their ‘final’ ever show as a band at Glastonbury in 2004. They also talk about their surprise ‘comeback’ gig at the festival in 2010 where they were joined on the Other Stage by Matt Smith from Dr Who. The duo relive the highs – and lows – of the Glastonbury experience and share what it’s like to headline such an important cultural event. Orbital also delve in to the BBC archive to replay some classic Glastonbury performances including ‘Chime’ ‘Style’ and ‘Satan’, and ‘Don’t Stop Me’ from their 2010 performance.”
