6 Mix 2012-03-04 My Name Is Tiga

“Canada’s electro ambassador Tiga returns to his 6 Mix residency where he explores his love of synthesized music past, present and future.
Based in Montreal, Tiga’s introduction to dance music came with the early 90s rave scene which inspired him to become a club DJ and set up his own label, Turbo Recordings. In the last decade he has become one of the most prolific producers in the world, remixing tracks by Soulwax, Fever Ray and The xx as well as releasing inspired covers of Nelly and Corey Hart. He’s also made his own solo albums – Sexor and Ciao! – and collaborates with Zombie Nation under the alias ZZT.
Following his rapturously received 6 Mix last year, Tiga began a bi-monthly 6 Music residency, playing a range of electronic music from the past three decades. In the third show of the series, Tiga selects cutting edge cuts from his DJ travels, this time inspired by a trip to India, as he explores the psychedelic world of Goan trance.”
Check out other 6 Mixes in my archive and subscribe to the feed to get good music in the future.

Resident Advisor podcast #301 by Floating Points

“Jazz, house, techno, disco, bass.
Floating Points is the recording alias of London-based DJ/composer/producer Sam Shepherd. If you’re already familiar with his work it’s likely that your access point was “Vacuum Boogie,” his irresistible 2009 track that despite its languid 116 beats per minute was among that year’s major cross-genre success stories. In understanding Shepherd’s approach to club music, it’s important to point out his background in jazz piano and composition. However, in this case we’re talking about far more than half-arsed Rhodes keys over a 4/4 kick. On tracks like “People’s Potential” the feeling was that a true dialogue had been struck up between the poles of Shepherd’s interests. 2011’s Shadows EP was as interesting an interpretation of club music you’re likely to hear. (And we thusly gave it a 5.) ”
