“Tom shares a session from Miami-born, New York-based artist Helado Negro and chats to British multi-hyphenate artist James Alexander Bright.
Helado Negro is Roberto Carlos Lange. In 2019 he was awarded a United States Artists Fellow in Music and also the recipient of a 2019 Grants to Artists award in Music from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. A South Florida native, born to Ecuadorian immigrants and based in Brooklyn, means his songs are a mix of English and Spanish. He’s released 7 studio albums to date, and most reecently put out the single “Ya no estoy aquí”.
James Alexander Bright has just released his 2nd album ‘Float’, which follows his 2020 debut ‘Headroom’. He started recording as Hairy Hands and released records between 2013-2016; the first release under his own name was the Mallorca EP in 2018.
He’s an illustrator by day. His creative duality lends a visual aspect to his music. He often approaches the creation of a new song from a strong image, much like soundtracking a movie inside his head.”
