“Rolling with the enviable passport name of Ross Tones, it’s easy to make a quip about Throwing Snow’s penchant for a melody, but it really is a valid connection to make. Since debuting in 2007, he’s made it awfully difficult for journalist types to nail him down to one genre or sound, traversing along the electronic spectrum from footwork and jungle, to drone and post-rock, rave, house and techno. Whichever genre it belongs to though, a Throwing Snow release never strays far from a melodic backbone. For the last couple of years he’s found a home on the fabric-run Houndstooth imprint, with his last year’s debut album being followed by a three-part series of EPs in 2015, full of soaring, pulsating and atmospheric dancefloor cuts.
For his GPWW mix, Throwing Snow takes a route as dexterous as his back catalogue, from the less known Will Lister and Ross From Friends, a jazzy remix remix from Glenn Astro and unreleased cuts from himself and Deft.”
