“Stuart hears from Johnny Lynch AKA electronic folk pop artist Pictish Trail, founder of the remote micro-imprint Lost Map Records. Established in 2013 on the tiny Inner Hebridean Isle of Eigg, Lost Map Records was formed to reassess how we discover and explore music amid the disorientating digital geography of the 21st century. Unbound by a fixed genre focus, the independent label hosts experimental pop, electronic and folk artists including Rozi Plain, Clémentine March and Kinbote.
The featured album is German komische giant Tangerine Dream’s 1980 album Tangram. Divided into epic twenty minute, side-long compositions, the album marked the trio taking their hypnotic instrumentals into jazzier territory and a decidedly more poppy and upbeat approach to their electronic sound.”
