Want to get more from Spotify, contact us and we can help you out. Here’s how to get great results and get heard.
1. Verify Your Band’s Profile
If you want to help your account stand out, make sure to get your band’s profile page verified. Being verified not only makes your account look more legitimate but it also lets your fans know that you are serious about what you do. From a traffic standpoint, it also may help you since Spotify tends to favor accounts that are verified over those that aren’t. As an added bonus, being verified may help you gain the attention of some of the top influencers on Spotify. You can learn more about the Spotify verification process here and how to promote your Spotify.
2. Try To Get Added To Unofficial Playlists
When you are first starting out, the odds of getting featured on one of Spotify’s official playlists are pretty slim. That doesn’t mean that all hope is lost. You can still take advantage of many of the unofficial playlists that are curated by some of Spotify’s top users. Typically, people who build these lists are more willing to accommodate bands with smaller followings, as long as they like their music.
Even so, it takes a little bit of finesse to convince unofficial curators to feature your music, as well. Oftentimes, a good way to get noticed is by helping to promote the curator to your own followers. They may turn around and add you to a playlist in return. Even though this may seem like a lot of work, it is generally worthwhile. Remember – you never know when someone’s account is going to become the next big thing.
A great example of this happened to me. A while back, Alex from the well-known blog Consequence of Sound contacted me to see about purchasing an ad on the blog for $25. At that time, the blog wasn’t at all well known. Today, however, they have a huge following. In fact, many of the people who use our services ask if we can help them get featured on that very same site. It just goes to show that there is no telling what someone might achieve at a later date. That is why it is so important to treat everyone that you come in contact with online with respect.
3. Use Social Media To Boost Awareness
One great way to get more followers and to get influencers on Spotify to notice you is by promoting your songs through your favorite social media platforms. Always include a link to your profile on Spotify from any of your social media accounts. On a weekly basis, be sure to remind fans that they can follow you on different social networks.
Just remember – you need to provide them with something of value if you want them to stay interested in your account. You might ask them to follow you in exchange for early access to a song that you are getting ready to release, for instance. If you are trying to get a particular influencer to add you to their playlist, try sharing some of their current playlists with your followers. This will help them notice you, improving the chances that your music will get featured.
4. Use Your Website To Promote Your Spotify Account
If you have your own website, make sure to add links to your Spotify profile. You can put a button on your site that fans can click to quickly and easily follow you. Link to your other social media accounts, as well, to try to increase your followers. Don’t forget to embed your Spotify playlist in your website so that people have a chance to hear what your music is all about.
5. Build Playlists Of Your Own
If you don’t have a well-established following or if you are trying to get noticed by influencers on Spotify, you may want to try your hand at creating your own playlists. Try choosing a single song for each artist that you add to your playlist, including yourself. Make sure to choose a title that really stands out and that people can easily find when they are searching for the type of music in your list. A great example of this is our playlist that features Indie-folk music. We gave it the simple name ‘Indie Folks’. Not only does this name let people know what the music is all about but it also makes it easier for them to find it when they are searching.
If you are trying to get your music on Spotify playlists, these strategies can be highly effective. Every day, make an effort to complete at least one of these steps. Before you know it, your band will be getting the attention that it deserves.
