The musician and producer, aka Damon Garrett Riddick, is cited as the epitome of this genre. After joining Stones Throw records in 2008, he released two albums, ‘Toeachizown’ and ‘Invite the Light’. The latter came out ths year, and features guest appearances from Q-Tip, Snoop Dogg and Aerial Pink.
Before this, Damon was busy teaching himself how to play drums, cutting his teeth on an apprenticeship under funk songwriter/producer Leon Sylvers III, and working alongside rappers including MC Eiht and Mack 10.”
