“Author and DJ, Dave Haslam, joins Mary Anne to talk about what makes a great nightclub, ahead of the release of his book, Life After Dark: A History of British Nightclubs & Music Venues.
Dave Haslam aka “the man with golden ears” was a key member of the Hacienda scene in Manchester in the late 1980s. He DJ-ed there over 450 times, and his sets have been cited as an inspiration to musicians including Ian Brown, Tim Burgess, Justin Robertson, and the Chemical Brothers.
As well as being a DJ and journalist, Dave has also penned four books. His latest release looks at the influence of clubs and gig venues across the country, from “vice-ridden Victorian dance halls” right up until the present day. Don’t forget to share with us your favourite memories of attending clubs and gig venues in the UK!”
