“Tune in. Be inspired. Make some art at home along with the show. Everyone is doing it! This show features the unique contributions of brilliant artists Goldie, Stanley Donwood and Holly Herndon.
Mary Anne invites every one of you – whether amateur or pro artist – to tune in and be inspired to make art at home. Simply listen to the music and sounds hosted by Mary Anne, and paint, draw, sculpt along.
Grab your glue sticks, glitter, body paint, charcoal and sewing kit and get involved … your piece may just end up in our online and actual (real) gallery exhibition! Send in your artwork by emailing Maryanne.6music@bbc.co.uk or using the hashtag #6MusicMakeArt on social media.
Goldie is a seminal electronic musician and producer, and a visual artist. He will be talking about the world of graffiti.
Stanley Donwood – “the sixth member of Radiohead” – is an artist whose work is instantly recognisable. He has designed some of the most popular album covers of all-time. He has also just realised a new book of fiction (‘Humor’) on Faber & Faber. He will be teaching Mary Anne how to unlock the subconscious.
Holly Herndon is a composer and sound artist based in San Francisco. She has just three hours (the duration of the programme) to produce a brand new and original piece of sound art.
As well as the aforementioned great guests expect cameo artistic appearances from John Cale, Stephen Malkmus, Ian McCulloch, Jim Reid and Philip Selway.
In honour of the Turner Prize 2014 (the award ceremony is Monday December 1st), Mary Anne is going art crazy. She looks forward to your ears and you beautiful pieces of art!”
