“Get your pen and scrap paper at the ready because Mary Anne is getting literary with some genuine UK indie heroes.
Chapter one: Arab Strap musician, journalist and children’s author Aidan Moffat teaches us all how to write better. Whether you’re a serious writer, an amateur enthusiast, or you have forgotten how to use a pen altogether, this will be a simple, useful and vital lesson for all.
Chapter two: Peter Brewis from Field Music and Paul Smith from Maxïmo Park explain why we should all be carrying a notebook around with us, all day every day. Their fabulous new collaborative record (‘Frozen By Sight’) is based on years of journal entries and doodles by Mr. Smith.
Chapter three: There will be cameo guest appearances from Patti Smith, Donovan, and more. They will be giving tips and tricks on how to be more skilful with the pen.
Postscript: Mary Anne will be playing some of the best literature inspired music around (from the likes of Broadcast, Magnetic Fields, Stephen Malkmus, etc).
This programme is part of the glorious 6 Music Celebrates Libraries season …”
