“Jamie T presents his first episode as Artist In Residence, playing whatever he likes on 6 Music for ten weeks. He begins the series by recreating his the Panic Prevention Vol 1 Mixtape. This was a now-rare cassette of music that Jamie was into in the mid-00s and that he handed out for free to the audience at his early gigs. Whilst the tracklisting for the tape is available online, it’s never been available to listen to before now.
Between tracks Jamie explains where the tunes came from – including the one he nicked from the music department at his school – and what they mean to him. Including music by his all-time favourite band The Clash, as well as Prince, Rancid, Paul Weller and The Beastie Boys.
Presenting his first ever radio shows for this series, Jamie began his career playing his acoustic bass guitar around Wimbledon in the 2000s. He released his first album, Panic Prevention, in 2007 and quickly gained widespread popularity and acclaim thanks to tracks like If You’ve Got The Money, Sheila and Calm Down Dearest. Earlier this year he released his fifth record, The Theory Of Whatever, and it proved his longevity by becoming his first to top the UK Albums Chart. He headlined Glastonbury’s John Peel Stage in June and went on the road in November this year for an eleven-date sold-out UK tour.”
