“To celebrate the first year of Studio Monkey Shoulder, we’re hosting a special day of radio programming with Gilles Peterson, taking you around the world in 12 hours.
We’ve been on an unforgettable journey this year, working with five trailblazing grassroots music communities across four continents. Together we’ve launched radio stations in Miami; pressed records in Lagos; facilitated new club spaces in Sheffield; inaugurated new festivals in Taipei and even taken a sound system from New Delhi to the remote tribal villages in the jungles of Assam.
Gilles Peterson looks back at the journey we’ve been on together, playing records he’s picked up along the way. He’ll be joined live on Brownswood Basement by WWFM Project Manager Magdalena Moursy as well as special guests Jazzhole Lagos to discuss the release of their 2 new LPs Eroya & Asiko Tito with Studio Monkey Shoulder. After that we’ll head to Lagos, Sheffield, Taipei, New Delhi and Miami to meet our music communities, collaborating with some of our favourite local community radio stations.”
