“The Don’s selections cross time, space and genre and include Crucial Vinyl from Terence Trent D’Arby.
Each week, as well as blending his favourite new music with classics from the UK, USA, Jamaica, Africa and way beyond, Don highlights a piece of Crucial Vinyl – a cherished album from his own collection. He explains why it means so much to him, and features three key tracks. This week it’s Terence Trent D’arby’s 1993 release ‘Symphony or Damn’.
Don says,”To my mind, Terence Trent D’Arby is one of the greatest soul vocalist of the late 80s / early 90s. I had a real hard time picking this album, such is the talent spread across his first four releases. Not without fault, it’s a striking body of work that contains more than a moment of genius. I’ve not listened to him since he moved to the West Coast and changed his name to Sananda Francesco Maitreya – I’ll have to remedy that!”.”
