“The Don’s selections cross time, space and genre and include Crucial Vinyl from the S.O.S. Band.
Each week, as well as blending key new releases with classics from the UK, USA, Jamaica, Africa and beyond, Don highlights a piece of Crucial Vinyl – a cherished album from his own collection. He explains why it means so much to him and features three key tracks. This week he selects the S.O.S Band’s Sands of Time, released in 1986.
Don says, “S.O.S actually stands for Sounds of Success – somewhat appropriate for this R ‘n’ B and electro funk outfit, as this album was put together by 80’s super producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. And you sure can tell… featuring, as it does, their trademark sound and studio techniques on hits such as The Finest, Borrowed Love, Even When You Sleep and No Lies.”.”
