“The Don’s selections cross time, space and genre and include Crucial Vinyl from Joe Gibbs & the Professionals.
Each week, as well as handpicking key new releases and classics from the UK, USA, Jamaica and beyond, Don highlights a favourite album from his own collection. He explains why it means so much to him and features three key tracks. This week it’s Africa Dub Almighty Chapter Three, released in 1978 by Joe Gibbs and the Professionals.
Don says, “From the producer that brought us Culture’s Two Sevens Clash, this was the best of his African Dub Almighty series, a firm favourite during my days as resident DJ at the legendary Roxy Club (the UK’s first live punk rock venue). His studio band the Professionals included Sly and Robbie on drums and bass respectively, and, with this combo, the late Joe Gibbs would go on to produce a shed load of hits.”.”
