“The Don’s selections cross time, space and genre and include Crucial Vinyl from Taj Mahal.
Each week, as well as blending his favourite new music with classics from the UK, USA, Jamaica, Africa and beyond, Don highlights a piece of Crucial Vinyl — a cherished album from his own collection. He explains why it means so much to him and features three key tracks. This week it’s Mo’ Roots, released by Taj Mahal in 1974.
Don says, “This American blues musician, born Henry Saint Clair Fredericks, is known for redefining the very idea of the blues by incorporating elements of zydeco, reggae, jazz, gospel and calypso along with folk music from West Africa and beyond. This mix, combined with his distinct vocal delivery, makes for a unique and very individual sound.”.”
