“Erol Alkan returns to the 6 Mix, taking you on a sonic journey through bleeps, beats and bass from the cutting edge of club culture.
A much loved and respected figure on the UK electronic music circuit, Erol’s early noughties club night Trash was recently named number 43 in the Guardian’s 50 Key Events In the History Of Dance Music supplement. This summer he’s been busy playing festivals all over the world from Glastonbury to Bestival, as well as catching everyone’s ears with his rework of Metronomy’s summer anthem, The Bay.
He’s also collaborated with 6 Music’s very own Jarvis Cocker and Boys Noize on a track called Avalanche, using the lyrics to Leonard Cohen’s Terminal Velocity, which saw Jarvis and Erol both playing at London’s Fabric nightclub in September. In his latest 6 Mix, Erol delves into the crates to unearth a selection of hidden gems alongside a selection of upfront electronic and experimental sounds from inside and outside the club.
In the final 30 minutes, Erol’s Mystery Mix returns, with a secret selection of future floorfillers which could well be the soundtrack to 2012’s festival season.”
