“6 Mix is live from the Big Chill Festival in Eastnor, Herfordshire with three live DJ sets from the stars of this year’s festival. Since its inception in 1994, The Big Chill has established itself as the home of alternative dance music on the UK summer festival circuit. Over the past 15 years it has played host to performances from Orbital, Basement Jaxx and Massive Attack and this year boasts The Chemical Brothers and Kanye West as its headliners. 6 Mix reflects the festival’s dance music heritage with a special live show featuring two DJ performances from Big Chill stalwarts Norman Jay and Mr Scruff, alongside a special set from future superstar DJ Jamie xx. Norman Jay needs no introduction. As godfather of the rare groove scene and one of the finest purveyors of classic house through his Good Times soundsystem, Norman’s annual Sunday afternoon appearance at the Big Chill is a festival institution. Meanwhile Manchester’s Mr Scruff has continued ploughing his own eclectic furrow as a DJ and entrepreneur, diversifying into selling his own branded tea alongside his trademark epic DJ sets full of funk and soul nuggets. Finally Jamie XX is undoubtedly one of the future stars of the Big Chill; his fusion of dubstep & bass music mixed with nods to garage and house music defining the sound of underground dance music in 2011. Fresh from his critically acclaimed 6 Mix in February this year, Jamie plays a 30 minute set packed full of future electronic beats.”
