“6 Music Celebrates Kraftwerk, 30 years after The Model reached number 1, with record label boss Mark Jones exploring the German band’s influence on electronic music.
It is the latest in Mark’s occasional series of 6 Mixes, exploring synthesised music past and present. In this special programme, Mark talks in depth to Mute Records boss and Kraftwerk expert, Daniel Miller, about the band’s huge impact on electronic music.
Daniel also chooses a selection of Kraftwerk tracks, influences and rarities from across the years including tracks by Organisation, The Balanescu Quartet and Afrika Bambaataa.
To showcase the massive impact Kraftwerk have had on current bands, the last part of the show sees London-based synth trio, Factory Floor provide an exclusive guest mix.”

The word “seminal” is an often-misused term in music. Not, however, when you are talking about Daniel Millers’ aka The Normal’s Warm Leatherette. The first release on Mute Records, catalogue MUTE001 — this is the record that started everything. It meant the world to us then — and it still does now. So we are celebrating all things Daniel, Mute and electronic in the best way we know… Presenting Really O’Reilly’s reimagining with the one and only electro-lady Georgie on vocals, and in deference to the original 7″ we have catalogued the tune DID45. Accompanied by a fantastic video from ditto’s very own Phillip Long. Warm Leatherette indeed. Watch the video here: http://youtu.be/PTAUynHZNUQ or Download from Soundcloud @ dittoTV
