Erol Alkan – Ghost Mix No.9

“14 tracks handpicked by me and arranged by mysterious Dj, ‘The Ghost’. I chose these tracks purely for the reason that I liked them rather then how they would fit in a mix, so it’s been inspiring to see how well ‘The Ghost’ has made it all flow!”

Erol Alkan – 6 Mix 2015-02-13

“Erol Alkan returns to the 6 Mix for his first show of 2015. His last show, back in November, saw him continuing on 6 Music with two hours of music from his DJ travels.
Erol has been at the centre of UK electronic music and clubbing since 1997 when he launched his iconic Trash club night in London which helped give rise to electroclash and acts such as Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem and Klaxons. As a producer he pioneered the mashup sound at the turn of the Millennium and has worked with producers like Boys Noize and Richard Norris, as Beyond the Wizard’s Sleeve, to create some of the biggest underground anthems. Additionally, he has remixed Daft Punk, MGMT, Justice and most recently the Manic Street Preachers. He also recently released the next edition of the FabricLive mix series. And it doesn’t end there – as an A&R he’s built up his label Phantasy as one of the hubs of exciting, emerging UK talent.
This all brings us to the fourth string to Erol’s dance music bow – radio. He’s been part of the 6 Mix for over five years now, pushing the sounds at the cutting edge of club culture, while giving nods to some of those who have helped shape the scene.”

Erol Alkan – 6 Mix 2013-04-12

“Erol Alkan returns to the 6 Mix, taking you on a sonic journey through bleeps, beats and bass from the cutting edge of club culture.
One of the most in-demand DJs in the world, Erol is one of the UK electronic scene’s most eclectic figures, with a musical palette ranging from Arthur Russell to the Manic Street Preachers. If proof were needed, Easter weekend saw him undertake a mammoth ten hour DJ set playing his eclectic record collection. Also, since his last 6 Music show in January, and after returning from his Australian tour, Erol has been on remix duties for Night Works. He also continues to champion new artists via his own Phantasy label.
In his latest 6 Mix, Erol delves into the crates to unearth upfront electronic and experimental sounds from inside and outside the club.”

6 Mix 2012-10-26 Erol Alkan presents: Justin Robertson and Jackmaster

“6 Mix resident Erol Alkan presents mixes from two of his favourite UK DJs: Manchester’s Justin Robertson and Glasgow’s Jackmaster.
Justin Robertson was a big influence on Erol in his early career and as a DJ needs no introduction. He was a regular at the Hacienda – first as a punter and then as a selector – and had chart hits during the 1990s under the moniker Lionrock. More recently he’s been making music with his new project the Deadstock 33s and playing acid influenced club sets all around the world; a sound he brings to tonight’s 6 Music show.
Bringing us bang up to date are the future electronic beats of Jackmaster. Starting his musical career working in Glasgow’s Rubadub records, Jackmaster has played a pivotal role in the city’s recent electronic music renaissance, bringing the likes of Rustie and Hudson Mohawke to a wider audience. The boss of Glasgow’s hippest underground label Numbers, his techno infused sets and productions have been hotly tipped by Erol to set clubland alight in 2013.”
