“This week DK is taking a breather from the XX shows and taking time to catch up on some new and recent releases. We kick off with the new single from James Blake, followed by another DK favourite Caribou, this time remixed by Altrice. More new music from Compound One and Sub Swara before dropping a trio of Latin jazz classics from Sabu, Har You Percussion Group and Don Cunningham. Lush sounds from Throwing Snow’sremix of Kidkanevil and Fantastic Mr Fox, then turning nasty with Jason Sparks, Hamilton and Dead Prez.
We strip it all down in hour 2 with an ambient mix from DJ Rich Ears. The Amsterdam based DJ and has had a string of similar mixes on various stations, including his ‘Perfect’ series in which the next instalment focuses on Amon Tobin. In this mix, a long spoken word intro breaks down into beautiful music from Ryuichi Sakamoto, Gonjasufi remixed by Mark Pritchard and drifts between Future Sound of London, Mileece and the collaboration from Aphex Twin and Brian Eno.”
