Sad news that Rob da Bank is leaving Radio 1 🙁
“South London wunderkid Jamie Isaac brings his ethereal RnB to Maida Vale; and Rob makes the first announcment about his Fantasy Festival – the festival that’s curated by YOU.
Plus there’s an amazing Alarm Call from modern day crooner MNEK, which you download for FREE over at the Radio 1 Soundcloud.”

Sad news indeed. I read a major shake-up with other specialists DJ (perhaps all specialists) are leaving too. You should post this news in Core News. Still don’t get the new BBC Radio 1 schedule. Does it mean the 2am shows are now 1am? Most of the shows are extended to 3 hours?

That’s a realm shame, RdB was the only show I still listened to regularly on R1.
He’ll surely find a place somewhere else. I’m gonna miss the ringtones though.

Boing! Spoke too soon. He’ll be joining 6Music:
I was just thinking that he would be a great fit there, but didn’t want to jinx it =D
Just as well, over the years I’ve been gravitating more and more from 1 to 6, so come autumn all my shows will be on one network, hehe. Apart from F&G on MoS, that is.

Yep, but it seems like he will get a monthly slot at best since it is a part of the 6 Mix family. Wish he got his own weekly show on 6 Music!

True. But maybe they’re just “trying him out” =) a weekly slot doesn’t open all the time, so maybe he will get one on the next opportunity? One can hope. Iggy Pop also did a couple of specials before they made him a quasi-regular.
