Gilles Peterson Worldwide 2012-03-14 Soundsystem Culture and Dancefloor Retrospective

If you haven’t heard it already: Gilles is getting a three hour show each Saturday on BBC Radio 6music. Awesome news!
“Gilles’s third retrospective takes on dancefloor and soundsystem culture, with a focus on Broken Beat, Brazilian Drum and Bass and the emergence of Dubstep. Connecting the dots from Detroit to Chicago, Croydon to Berlin, with words from MIA, Skream & Benga, and Mala.
Plus there are session tracks from the archive, with Bugz In The Attic from Maida Vale, and a recording of SBTRKT and Sampha performing live back in 2010. If that wasn’t enough, there are over 50 tracks in total, crammed into 2 hours!”

  1. Great news that Gilles is gonna still be on the BBC (Radio 6) and for 3 hours too! I just hope he still retains the Worldwide name for the show since for me, it perfectly embodies what his show’s music is all about – World music!

BBC Radio 1’s loss is Radio 6’s gain – and ours too!

Peace to all fellow Worldwide listeners and to you to Thomas – thanks for the Core News website… very much appreciated.

  2. That’s great news indeed! But honestly I wasn’t worried, because I knew he would be on another station. So it didn’t matter where that would be as long as I (and other lovers of his show) could get their weekly fix :).

So lucky, may I ask where you are from?

    Cheers,

    Ahmed

  3. I’ve also just found this, Thomas! Sounds interesting for all of us long time Peterson fans. šŸ™‚

    From the website:

    “Hello everyone,

It’s time to dig deep… the search is on. Iā€™m on the hunt for recordings of my shows and sessions and would like YOUR help! Feel free to send your pictures, stories, memorabilia etc. Iā€™m compiling an archive of all of my work, and Iā€™m sure some of you have some weird and wonderful stuff from over the years that you could contribute to this new venture. Iā€™m looking for digital files mostly, but if you have something extra special it would be great to hear from you, so hit me up with all you have.
    Thanks GP.”

  4. Yes, Thomas, great news indeed! šŸ˜€
    (Starting 7th April from 3pm-6pm)
Now we get THREE hours of the Gillesmeister! Haha…
Couldn’t do without him, and he’s the reason I visited your site in the first place, to get his shows! šŸ˜€
I thought 6Music would approach him. I’ve followed him from the beginning at Radio One, 1997, and lost count of the number of artists he’s introduced me too.
That Pepe Bradock track, he played at the beginning ‘Deep Burnt’ is still a favourite of mine.
And, thanks a million for using Mediafire. I was unable to dll from Deposit File. Core News keeping the music alive, Brother. Hope your doin well. šŸ™‚
