FACT mix 75 by TRG – dubstep and house

Is it just me or is house becoming an important part of dubstep? Seems like a slew of dubstep producers and DJs are fusing dubstep and house (and what is this funkstep genre?).
It is the same thing with this TRG mix for FACT Magazine. I’m a bit surprised by myself, but I’m really enjoying this trend. What do you guys think and could anyone say some words about the funkstep genre (or whatever the kids call it these days)?

  1. I think the house influence is a breath of fresh air for dubstep. It needs to step out of the wobble thing.
As far as the funk step thing, I think it’s known as UK Funky and Cooly G is one of the main players. Here is a mix by her uploaded by the lovely krunchtime blog.

By the way, I really enjoy reading Core news, keep up the good work!

  2. this mix is a banger! i see that a lot of dubstep artists change their style into something more housier. i quite enjoy this kind of house (or Hitek House as TRG calls it) but i hope that dubstep won’t vanish in a year or two.
