Core News is back – What now?

It has been a few months since we decided to shut down Core News – after running it for over 15 years! I got to admit that I started to miss posting about music, and most of all finding new awesome electronic music.

I will not post anything from the infamous radio station and I can’t deny that that content was an important part of Core News. In addition the site have lost quite a few of visitors since we announced that we closed down.
It is also a fact that most people nowadays use streaming services such as Spotify, Mixcloud and Soundcloud instead of using old school music files.

To make it worthwhile to run Core News we would like to grow the audience to more music lovers. And here I would appreciate some help from you guys.

Here are some options I have been considering to make Core News grow:
1. Add more commercial electronic music DJ sets (this is also a risk)
2. Provide better download hosts – this has always been a struggle
3. Starting up again with a direct download service like on Patreon
4. Just adding more daily content
5. Have more engaging social media to reach new audiences
6. ???

What do you think as a visitor and consumer of music? Do you have any ideas how Core News could grow? Please leave a comment below!

  1. I like the idea of news on great sets.

I greatly appreciated being able to get the sets from a couple of shows on that infamous radio station.

  2. CONGRATULATIONS, people!!!
I think yneed more sharing posts on reddit or on forums, on youtube in the comment sections, on soundcloud in the comment sectionin etc. etc., in general, as far as you can reach at all
Thank you! Glad to be here! Cheers!

  3. i think even recommending great sets with links to other platforms would be nice. always loved how corenews was a one-stop-shop to stay up to date with new mixes and sets from around the web. ?

  4. There was also a profile on Mixcloud, “musiclover1980”, I don’t know if it was related to you or not, but I think that was a good idea to make these mixes playable on the website and “musiclover1980” did this. So I think a webplayer for the mixes on the website would be beneficial for growing the site.
Especially when the mixes are shared on those stupid click here, click there, wait 120 seconds, pay if you want more dl speed…etcetc websites….I hated those 10-20 years ago, I hate them now as well…
