Violet is Inês Borges Coutinho. She began producing records in 2012 and moved to London for some time, but moved back to Lisbon in 2016 and has made an indellible mark on the citys underground. She started her label Naive and founded online station Rádio Quântica, both in an effort to give a platform to marginalised artists. She is also resident at mina – a queer rave in unexpected venues.
Violet incorporates similar sounds from her production process into her DJing, melding breaks, extraterrestrial jacking rhythms, imaginative techno, acid house and more. She’s played out across the world.
Her latest release is the EP Espírito, out this month on naive with an Eris Drew remix.”
