6 Mix 2011-05-01 Dimitri from Paris

“6 Mix celebrates the bank holiday weekend by inviting legendary purveyor of house and disco, Dimitri from Paris, onto the decks. The man behind the first ever house music show on French radio, Dimitri was actually born in Istanbul before moving to France as a child. During the 1980s he produced soundtracks for fashion houses such as Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier, and remixed the likes of Bjork, James Brown and New Order, before making his own grooves. He released his first solo album – ‘Sacrebleu’ – in 1996 and, since then, has gone on to compile albums of Philly funk and disco as well as re-edit artists including the Temptations and Steve Winwood. For his first 6 Mix in three years, Dimitri steps up to the decks to play a party set of 1970s disco nuggets and classic 1980s house tunes, alongside a selection of contemporary favourites from the likes of Tensnake and Hercules And Love Affair. There’s also the chance to hear some of the inspirations behind his latest ‘Knights of the Playboy Manson’ mix album.”
