Tom Ravenscroft 2018-06-01 Sudan Archives session and a guest mix from Grandbrothers.

“Sudan Archives is the 23 year old LA based avant-garde chanteuse and violin virtuoso. Not only did she teach herself to play violin, but Parks writes, plays and produces every sound that rang from her self-titled EP. Her unique style was developed after discovering the Northern Africa style of violin playing, whereby Parks largely dismissed Western conventions and began fusing the style with electronic beats and R&B vocals. She seeks to speak upon the black experience and womanhood with culture and history at the forefront. After playing at SXSW and Coachella and ahead of her Field Day performance she will be performing new material for her first UK radio session for Tom’s show which promises to be a treat.
There will also be a guest mix from Swiss duo Grandbrothers . Erol and Lukas formed Grandbrothers to tie together their respective musical backgrounds and disciplines: Erol is a trained jazz pianist, while by day Lukas constructs synthesizers at Access Music. Together, they create a sound that combines classical composition with modern, experimental production and sound design.”
