“The resident is American DJ, producer, remixer and experimental pop artist Matthew Dear. The guest mix comes from lau.ra.
Matthew Dear is is a man of many talents, and dips his toes into pop music, electronica, DJing, producing, remixing, indeed, pretty much anything that catches his imagination. He’s released 6 albums to date under his own name, as well as under aliases Audion, Jabberjaw and False.
lau.ra is the alias of DJ, producer and vocalist Laura Bettinson, who you will also know as one-third of Ultraísta with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich.
She has previously featured on tracks by the likes of Sasha, Four Tet, Maribou State and David Lynch.”

“Matthew Dear is back in Ladyland and acting as Resident DJ this week! He releases his first album in six years and the new single “Bunny’s Dream” is a firm favourite of Nemone’s.
Matthew moved from Texas to Michigan as a teenager, where he was inspired by the sound of Detroit Techno. He met Sam Valenti IV at a party while attending the University of Michigan, and the two started the record label, Ghostly International, based on a shared love of electronic music. Dear’s first single was 1999’s “Hands Up For Detroit” (co-produced by ghettotech pioneer Disco D, who performed under the name Daisha). His first album Leave Luck to Heaven appeared in 2003 and was praised widely as a seminal fusion of pop and minimal techno. The album’s single “Dog Days” became one of Spectral’s best sellers and a favourite of international DJs like Richie Hawtin. Matthew has also worked under the harder-edged alias Audion, as well as monikers False and Jabberjaw.
Nemone hand-picks a brilliant selection of tracks reflecting the bleeps, beeps, and breaks of dance music over five decades.”

“This week on 6 Music, songwriter and producer, Matthew Dear, takes to the 6 Mix decks.
Matthew plays a mixture of tracks that have inspired his new album, Beams, and some new music that is big in his world right now.
Beams, which was recorded at his home in New York, is the fifth album from the Ghostly International co-founder and was released earlier this month. Its creation sees a newly assembled five-piece band come together to tour the album.
Aside from his critically-acclaimed own work, Matthew has remixed the likes of The xx, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Hot Chip, The Postal Service and Chemical Brothers.
In this two hour show, Matthew plays a range of his musical loves from Thomas Fehlman, Sei A and Morgan Geist.”
