Nemone’s Electric Ladyland 2017-09-23 with Bjork and legendary New York producer Arthur Baker

“Hear Bjork talking about her seminal album ‘Homogenic’ on its release in 1997.
Expect the unexpected with Arthur, so we go from salsa to techno to an 80’s pin up doing a Bee Gees song!
Arthur is an undoubted pioneer in rhythmic music production. He began as a DJ in the late 70s, but moved to New Yprk in 1981 where he started producing at Tommy Boy Records, in particular with Afrika Bambaataa. He remixed for the likes of Pet Shop Boys and Bruce Springsteen, and went on to write and work with New Order.
He has continued to DJ and produce dance music throughout his career.”

Don Letts 2015-12-06 Culture Clash Radio and Crucial Vinyl from Björk

“The Don’s selections cross time, space and genre and include Crucial Vinyl from Bjork.
Each week, as well as handpicking key new releases and classics from the UK, USA, Jamaica and beyond, Don highlights a favourite album from his own collection. He explains why it means so much to him and features three key tracks. This week it’s Debut released by Bjork in 1993.
Don says, “I first came across Bjork through the Sugarcubes’ single Hit back in 1991, and, like many, was captivated by her vocal style and delivery, but nothing prepared me for her incredible Debut (actually her second solo album). Produced by Nelle Hooper (Massive Attack/Soul II Soul), it tapped into trip-hop, house and jazz, producing five hit singles and, more importantly, introduced us to artist like no other – a true original.”.”

The First Time With… 2011-12-30 Bjork (6 Music)

“Another highlight of Matt Everitt’s First Time series sees him delving into the mind of Bjork and finding out what makes this unique Icelandic artist tick.
Publicly and critically acclaimed, Bjork has 13 Grammy Awards nominations, one Academy Award and two Golden Globe Awards to her name, but it’s her ability to use her distinct singing voice as an instrument to craft unique melodies that has won her millions of fans over the world.
Bjork talks Matt Everitt through the her remarkable career. She discusses first falling in love with music after being fascinated by the artwork of her parents’ collection of Joni Mitchell and Frank Zappa LPs, recording her debut album aged just 11 years old, forming The Sugarcubes, working with her musical peer Thom Yorke and what inspires her to return to the studio and the stage.
First broadcast in September.”
