Don Letts 2016-07-24 With Crucial Vinyl from Bill Withers

“The Don’s selections cross time, space and genre and include Crucial Vinyl from Bill Withers.
Each week, as well as blending key new releases with classics from the UK, USA, Jamaica, Africa and beyond, Don highlights a piece of Crucial Vinyl – a cherished album from his own collection. He explains why it means so much to him and features three key tracks. This week it’s Still Bill, released in 1972 by Bill Withers.
Don says, “I’m going back to my soul boy days with this one… Now, Bill Withers had already caught my young ears with cuts such as Ain’t No Sunshine and Grandma’s Hands, as featured on his debut album, which definitely left you wanting more. And man did we get more on this, his second album, with tracks including Use Me, Who Is He (And What Is He to You)? and his Gospel-like anthem Lean on Me. These were nothing short of masterclasses in classic soul songwriting and delivery.”.”
